The Houston Chronicle printed a blurb on WWE’s upcoming DVD releases, including the Hulk Hogan Anthology and a “History of the World Title” DVD that will include old-school footage dating back to Ed “Strangler” Lewis, Lou Thesz, Buddy Rogers, and Frank Gotch. Hogan’s DVD is scheduled for release on November 17. Amazon.com lists the “History of the World Title” DVD for release on December 1. Chronicle columnist David Barron said it’s a classic DVD for “geezers” like himself.

“The latest round of WWE DVDs includes another Hulk Hogan collection, the first two volumes in a multi-year anthology of Survivor Series and, for my fellow geezers, a history of the world heavyweight championship with National Wrestling Alliance matches featuring the original Nature Boy, Buddy Rogers, plus Gene Kiniski, Dory Funk Jr., Terry Funk, Jack Brisco and Harley Race,” Barron reported. Barron has covered pro wrestling for the Chronicle for a number of years. The Chronicle covered WrestleMania 25 earlier this year with a cover-story on the five-star classic Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker match that was on the frontpage of the printed Chronicle the day after the PPV from Houston.

According to Amazon.com’s listing for the World Title DVD, the chapters will include: Origins of Wrestling, “An American Hero” Frank Gotch, Ed “Strangler” Lewis, National Wrestling Alliance, Lou Thesz, Buddy Rogers, New Breed of Champions, 1970s World Champions, A Flair for the Gold, Crockett’s World Champion, NWA to WCW, WCW Withdraws From NWA, Revolving WCW Champions, The Undisputed Championship, World Championship Returns, Legacy Lives. Matches scheduled to be included date back to the 1960s with Pat O’Connor vs. Buddy Rogers and Gene Kiniski vs. WWE Hall of Famer Dory Funk, Jr.
